L'arène, l'atelier, l'alcôve
Florian Rodari
From his series of Acrobats of 1905 to his last erotic plates in the series 347 Etchings engraved in 1968, Picasso returned constantly to the theme of performance in his prints. From the big top to the studio, the bullring and the alcove, he presented in turn at centre stage the feats of circus performers, the creations of painters and sculptors, the ballet of the bulls, horses and bullfighters in the corrida, and the jousts of love between entwined bodies. This “Grand Parade” is magnificently illustrated in this catalogue and exhibition made possible by the successive deposits of the Fondation Coninx, Fondation Planque and the Fondation Cuendet & Atelier de Saint-Prex.
