The Art of Line and Light
Texts by Olivia Brush and Vivienne Becker
This book offers a structured exploration of the universe and work of American artist Daniel Brush (1947–2022), who was at once a painter, sculptor, poet-goldsmith, and jeweler. His lifelong obsession, to transmit light through line, was deeply informed by his study of Claude Monet’s painterly depictions of light. Carly Lapidus’s exclusive photographs of Daniel Brush’s New York studio document how his life and creations were intimately intertwined. And finally, bringing us even closer to Daniel Brush’s art are photographs by Benjamin Chelly, which alternate between macroscopic and microscopic perspectives. This unique visual journey is a tribute to one of the most fascinating artists of the twentieth century.
