Scultura italiana illustrates the work of ten Italian sculptors viewed during the course of their artistic development. Nicola Carrino, Pietro Coletta, Luigi Mainolfi, Eliseo Mattiacci, Hidetoshi Nagasawa, Mauro Staccioli, Giuseppe Spagnulo, Antonio Paradiso, Pino Pascali, Antonio Trotta: ten key figures in Italian post-war sculpture, protagonists in their different ways in the renewal of their chosen art form, which still bears their imprint today. A “crisis of sculpture” as an idealized form, a “monument” in the classical sense, to which the historical avant-garde had originally tried to respond. The catalogue includes the works exhibited with an introduction by Arturo Schwarz, one of the leading experts on Marcel Duchamp and dada.
