Un viaggio grafico nel tempo
Orith Kolodny
In the present we look at the past to see what exactly has changed. This is the idea Orith Kolodny took as her starting point when planning this slim, pink- and chocolate-coloured book that draws our attention to the changes we witness in our lives. It does so by juxtaposing symbols, icons, customs, and ways of reasoning in a wordless dialogue. The dove—a symbol of peace—turns into the little bird that serves as the Twitter logo. The telephone booth has no physical representative in the modern world any more; instead, we go looking for the abstract symbol of a wi-fi hotspot. These are just a few examples found in this intergenerational book, in which changes are illustrated with no value judgments, even though they sometimes lead to reflections that raise a wry smile.
Orith Kolodny was born in Tel-Aviv and now lives and works as a graphic designer in Milan. She is the co-author of the series De ville en ville, published by La Joie de Lire. Her curiosity and imagination now lead her to create logos, trademarks, and illustrated books. She is an accomplished athlete, once holding several records, including the Israeli 400 m record, which remained unbroken for fifteen years.
