It includes remarkable groupings of works that reflect various stages in the careers of painters such as Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Gustave Courbet, Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, Paul Gauguin, C.W. Eckersberg, and Vilhelm Hammersh\u00f8i. While French Impressionist and Danish works are a focus, other\u2013often contradictory\u2013art movements of nineteenth-century France, including the Barbizon School and Realism, are also well represented.<\/p>\n
An expert in neo-classical European art, Paul Lang<\/strong> is Deputy Director and Chief Curator at the National Gallery of Canada, where he co-curated Gustave Dor\u00e9 (1832\u20141883): Master of Imagination<\/em>, in collaboration with the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Orsay, Paris (2014), and \u00e9lisabeth Louise Vig\u00e9e Le Brun (1755\u20141842)<\/em>, in collaboration with the R\u00e9union des mus\u00e9es nationaux \u2014 Grand Palais, Paris, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2015\u201416).
