Archeo features the Farnese Cup

The cover design of the August issue of the monthly magazine Archeo. Attualità del passato, consists of a detail of the Farnese Cup. This is one of a series of wonderful photos illustrating an accompanying article by Stefano Mammini that were taken by Luigi Spina for our book co-published with the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. The article traces the journey, both across vast distances and over the centuries, of the largest ancient vase carved out of hardstone to have come down to us. Mammini discusses the artefact's possible functions and examines the iconographic interpretations of the engraved scene that have been put forward.
